I’ve mentioned green tea so many times on my blog, Instagram and Facebook page that I decided it deserves a post on its own. I’ve been drinking green tea for so many years right now and it’s the one and only health ritual that I’ve stuck too over the years – regardless of which country I’m in/ what my overall diet is like/ what the weather is like/ you’ll always find me with a cup (or cups) of green tea 😉
Let’s get down to the benefits of regularly sipping on green tea:
It increases fat burning + weight loss// Stimulates digestion// Reduces blood sugar levels// Lowers your risk of chronic disease // Reduces blood pressure// Contains powerful antioxidants// Increases metabolism// Reduces inflammation//
The biggest benefit for me has been the way my body thrives on green tea. It tastes horrid and bitter but the benefits for me far out weigh the taste. I start my morning with a cup of green tea (usually plain or some days with ACV) and end my day with a cup of green tea with coconut oil and maybe an added boost depending on the day. These boosters are little health bits that I’ve picked up on the way. I love trying out new health hacks and ideas, so if you know of any, do let me know in the comments below.
There’s so many variations that I love to add in my cup of green tea. Some days I mix a few and other days, it’s bitter hard core green tea on it’s own. Play around with these suggestion, pay attention to how your body reacts and feels to them.
7 health boosters to add to your cup of green tea:
+ Coconut oil – I remember reading an interview on a supermodel who consumes 4 tablespoons of coconut oil daily… you can guess exactly what I did that day! 😀 If you want to de-bloat/ wake up with a flatter stomach, sipping on green tea with a tablespoon of coconut oil before you sleep is so helpful even if you’ve feasted the entire day.
+ Turmeric essence – To help maintain a healthy digestion, reduce bloating, it reduces inflammation naturally. One of the main bioactive ingredients in turmeric is curcumin – which has the most evidence-based literature supporting its use against cancer above other nutrients. Pretty epic!
+ Lemon – To aid digestion, it’s loaded with vitamin C, promotes healthy skin and vision and boosts your immune system. Whether it’s in your green tea or drinking warm water with lemon regularly, you can feel the difference within a day.
+Apple Cider Vinegar – This is a holy grail for me, I remember pouring organic raw apple cider vinegar into a travel sized bottle and taking it on holiday with me, just in case I wouldn’t be able to find it. (Yes, I’m that crazy hehe!) The benefits are huge: weight loss, may lower blood sugar levels, boosts liver detoxification, stimulates digestive juices that help the body break down food and can control the growth of unwanted yeast and bacteria in your stomach and throughout your body.**
+ Organic Sidr Honey – If the taste of green tea is too bitter for you, add in a teaspoon (or more) of organic sidr honey. It’s so delicious on it’s own too. It comes from the Sidr trees which has been mentioned in the Quran. The bees feed themselves exclusively on the nectar of the Sidr trees making the honey a powerhouse of antioxidants.
+ Wheatgrass Powder – A teaspoon at a time because it’s a strong detoxifier. It contains all minerals known to man, and vitamins A, B-complex, C, E, l and K. It’s extremely rich in protein, and contains 17 amino acids, the building blocks of protein. The biggest benefit I noticed was during a few days, throughout menstruation where my diet wasn’t the healthiest. Usually eating healthy, delicious meals is enough to combat menstrual cramps. However at that time I wasn’t eating healthy and worried that I’d get back pain and cramps. But the only thing I did stick to was green tea, coconut oil and teaspoon of wheatgrass powder every night and voila – no menstrual cramps whatsoever!
+ Charcoal tablets – This really does detoxify everything so it’s best not to consume regularly over a consistent period of time. It alleviates gas and bloating, eliminates toxins and promotes a healthy digestive system.
Isn’t this soo fun? 😉
Like with all things in life moderation is where you’ll thrive the most. There can be too much of a good thing, so please don’t go overboard with any of these suggestions and always check with your doctor/ health practitioner to figure out what’s best for you. Try out these health boosters in your daily cup of green tea and let me know how it goes for you! Happy sipping! 😉

Its okay if we use extra virgin coconut oil in a cup of green tea ?
And i have one question. Did ACV has a bad smell n horrible taste ? Or it just me who got wrong type of ACV ? Huhu. I always suffer to swallow ACV in my mouth.
Yes extra virgin coconut oil is great too,
And YESSSS heheh the taste and smell of apple cider vinegar is very strong, so best to start small and mix it in with green tea or warm water xx
My mother recently reminded me to try green tea and I kinda didn’t give that much of a thought because though I like green tea I am more of a coffee person. But reading your post I am kinda back on green tea 😀 thanks
Ah great! ? Have you noticed any differences from drinking green tea? x
Sigh I don’t know why I just cannot get use to the taste :/ it is super healthy hmm maybe I should just suck it up and drink up lol (www.beautywithzainy.com and http://www.spicyfusionkichen.com)
Hehehe I know the taste is soo horrid but I promise it’s worth it 🙂 Maybe try adding a bit of honey or even organic milk with it – should lighten the bitter taste.
Green tea is a lovely thing with all of its tastes and benefits.
Yup absolutely ?
I love green tea but really struggle to be regular at it. I forget to drink water so Tea is a little extra effort lol But definitely it has amazing health benefits.
heheh yeah I see drinking green tea/ herbal tea as part of my water intake – that way it doesn’t feel like I need to be drinking water all day long lol
Love this!! I’m trying new teas at the moment, trying to boost my health & But I’ve not heard of green tea with coconut oil .. it sounds vile! ? im sure it’s amazing though! Will definetly try it out, thanks for sharing!
Oh it tastes hmmmm horrid? lol It’s not the tastiest thing but it does wonders heheh. Yeah definitely try it out – let me know how it goes xx
I keep hearing about the benefits of green tea so I tried it some time ago but I just couldn’t get used to the taste. Really didn’t like it. Might have to give it a go with honey.
Yeah with honey or even a little bit of organic milk too – that’ll help neutralise the bitter taste x
I am a green teat addict – no way around it! I have suffered from anxiety my whole life and find that heaps of caffeine sometimes trigger the anxiety. With green tea I get the caffeine but not all the drama I’d get with a coffee – just putting it out there for anyone else who might suffer from anxiety 🙂
Also, the coconut in the tea is so yummy! I do it regularly and honestly I love it!
Thanks for sharing!
That is amazing!!! So great to hear your experience with it ?
